Premise
After years of sexually abusive relationships with many men, the author Lea finds love at last. Her female friend Emma falls in love with her fiancé after her first serious relationship, but finds her own love stymied by her compulsive choice to let her ex-boyfriend, Jeff, treat her like a plaything.

Education
Sosna graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1973. He then graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a master's degree in American studies in 1975. Sosna received a Ph.D. in history from the University of California, Berkeley in 1978.
Career
In 1998 he was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
